 RR Bawa DAV College for Girls, Batala Paid tribute to Brave Soldiers on Dera Baba Nanak Day (DBN Day)

RR Bawa DAV College for Girls, Batala, observed DBN Day paying homage to the gallant soldiers of the DBN Brigade who fought valiantly in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. 

The commemoration was held at the War Memorial, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Army during the Battle of Dera Baba Nanak.

The Battle of Dera Baba Nanak, a pivotal engagement on the Western Front, saw Operation Akal successfully repel the Pakistani advance, capturing a strategically vital railway bridge over the Ravi river. 

Veteran Colonel JKV Singh was the Chief Guest of the day. He addressed the gathering and shared that in 1971 the Indian Army displayed indomitable courage. Lieutenant Colonel Ankur Mishra and Naib Subedar Sanjeev Malla were also present at the event.

On this occasion Sh. Rajesh Kawatra, Chairman Local Advisory Committee of the College expressed gratitude to Col JKV Singh and highlighted the role of iron industry of Batala during the war in 1971. 

Principal Dr Meenakshi Duggal thanked Col JKV Singh for recognising the contribution of NCC unit of the institution. Dr. Lucky Sharma, Mrs. Simmi Sharma, Mrs. Supriya Duggal, Mrs. Ekta Bhandhari, Mr. Pankaj, Mr. Vinay, Mr. Veekesh Kumar along with members of Rotary Club, paid tribute to the soldiers of DBN brigade.
