 Entrepreneurial workshop on 'Mushroom Cultivation' conducted at RR Bawa DAV College for Girls, Batala

Under the patronage of Dr. Ekta Khosla, Principal, RR Bawa DAV College for Girls, Batala and under the able guidance of Dr. Ritu Goswami (Coordinator) and Mrs. Ekta Bhandari (Convener), a hands on training for short term course in 'Mushroom Cultivation' was conducted in the college campus. Dr. Puneet Puri (Head PG Dept. Zoology, DAV College, Jalandhar) participated in this workshop as a trainer. Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla formally welcomed Dr. Puneet Puri by giving him a green planter.

While sharing her views on this occasion, Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla emphasized that college is offering several short term courses for value addition of normal degree programs. Self-reliance is the key to success in today's scenario and this hands on training will prove beneficial for the students as mushroom cultivation is one of the easiest and most lucrative crops even for beginners as they may start their own start-ups. At this juncture, Dr. Puneet Puri shared his views and provided detailed information regarding 'Mushroom Cultivation' and added that it is a profitable agricultural business that one can start with a little capital and space for cultivating the mushrooms and one kg. mushroom can be sold easily in the market and this is a profitable business and said that consumption of mushroom reduces mental stress, is rich in protein, controls Blood Pressure and protects against diseases like heart attack, brain tumor etc. He also provided detailed information about different techniques of mushroom cultivation and its monitoring methods. Students prepared culture bags with spawns of oyster mushroom. On this occasion Ms. Ridhima, Ms. Sunidhi, Ms. Rinku Malhi and Ms. Divya were present.
