A Seminar on International Day of Mathematics (Pi Day) organized at RR Bawa DAV College for Girls, Batala
Under the stewardship of Dr. Meenakshi Duggal, Officiating Principal, RR Bawa DAV College for Girls, Batala and under the guidance of Mrs. Simmi Sharma (Head, PG Department of Mathematics) a seminar on International Day of Mathematics (Pi Day) was organized in the college premises. At this juncture, Mrs. Simmi Sharma expressed her views on the importance of this special day which is observed worldwide to highlight the importance of mathematics in science, technology and everyday life. The date 14 March (3/14) symbolizes the first three digits of the mathematical constant π (Pi) = 3.14, which represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.
On this occasion, Some students presented fun puzzles and logical challenges that engaged the audience. During this session, Ms. Fareeha (M.Sc. Mathematics Sem. II) addressed the gathering about the importance of Pi Day. Similarly, Ms. Purti (B.Sc. Computer Science Sem. II) and Ms. Gurpreet (B.Sc. Non-Medical Sem. II) coordinated Riddles and Games. On this occasion, a skit was also performed by the students of B.Sc. (NM) Sem. VI, in which Kumari Sumiksha, Jaspreet Kaur, Samiti, Anmoldeep Kaur and Sneha highlighted its importance in Mathematics. The event aimed to promote interest in mathematics and provide students with a platform to express their ideas, creativity and perspectives related to the subject.
The event concluded with an interactive session where students expressed their views on how mathematics shapes innovation and logical thinking. The celebration successfully motivated students to develop a deeper interest in mathematics and appreciate its vital role in modern society. At this juncture, Ms. Rajwant Kaur, Ms. Kiran, Ms. Nandini and Mrs. Mamta were also present.
