 Cafeteria Week Celebrated with Delicious Delights at RR Bawa DAV College for Girls, Batala


Under the patronage of Dr. Meenakshi Duggal, Officiating Principal, RR Bawa DAV College for Girls, Batala and under the guidance of Mrs. Harpreet Aneja and Mrs. Sunaina Gupta in collaboration with WEE@RRB and IIC, 'Cafeteria Week' was organized under Entrepreneurial Programme in the college premises. The college enthusiastically celebrated Cafeteria Week with a variety of mouth-watering dishes served each day, creating a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere for students and staff alike.


The event commenced on the first day with the refreshing and tangy Corn Chaat, which was widely appreciated for its flavor and presentation. The students prepared a nutritious & tasty Corn Chaat using sweet corn, fresh vegetables and mild spices, keeping in mind the dietary needs of active students. In this event students run Cafeteria set-up. Roles were efficiently managed i.e. Ms. Puneet Kaur managed the role of Head Cook, overseeing the preparation of recipes. Ms. Roopleen Kaur contributed as Assistant Cook supporting in food preparation and maintaining hygiene. Ms. Mehakmanjot Kaur handled the role of cashier, managing sale and transactions effectively.


On the second day, students relished the healthy and tasty vegetable sandwich, making it a popular choice among all. The dishes were made using fresh ingredients, ensuring hygiene as well as good nutritional value. The food items were not only tasty but also light & refreshing making them ideal for students. Ms. Smiksha Abrol, Ms. Sumanpreet, Ms. Varinder, Ms. Khushi Rajput, Ms. Gurleen Kaur and Ms. Neetu managed the roles of token issues, assistant cook, cashier, head cook, assistant cook and steward respectively.


The third day brought a tangy twist with Katori Chaat prepared using crispy bread cups filled with nutritious mixture of vegetables, potatoes, tomatoes, chutneys and curd which added a festive charm and was loved for its unique taste. During this event Ms. Prabhpreet, Ms. Parneet Kaur and Ms. Kajal performed the duties of cashier, head cook and assistant cook respectively. The celebrations continued on the fourth day with the ever-favourite Bhel Puri, offering a perfect blend of crunch and spice. As part of this initiative the students prepared & served Bhel Puri, a light & nutritious snack to the students.  It was well-suited for students as it is easy to digest & refreshing. During this event Ms. Jashanpreet, Ms. Parveen, Ms. Sharanpreet and Ms. Sanampreet performed the duties of token issuer, head cook, assistant cook and cashier effectively. 


The week concluded on a delightful note with Papdi Chaat on the fifth day, leaving everyone satisfied and cheerful. The Papdi Chaat was made using ingredients full with nourishment and quick energy boost, protein rich, rich in vitamin & minerals which are good for digestion. Its sweet, spicy and tangy flavour made it appealing and students were more likely to eat and refuel properly. Ms. Shinejit Kaur, Ms. Arpan, Ms. Jaspreet, Ms. Arshpreet, Ms. Husanpreet and Ms. Navjot performed the duties of assistant cook, cashier, token issuer, utility worker, head cook and steward respectively.  Throughout this week, Ms. Mehakdeep Kaur (President Nutrition Club), Ms. Smiksha Abrol (Secretary), Ms. Devnoor Kaur (President Home Science Club), Ms. Khushi Sharma (Secretary) performed their duties effectively to make this event a successful one. The initiative not only promoted culinary creativity but also encouraged participation and enjoyment among students. Cafeteria Week proved to be a great success, fostering a sense of community and adding flavour to campus life.
