'Diwali Mela event Vocal for Local'

Under the patronage of Dr. Ekta Khosla, Principal RR Bawa DAV College for Girls, Batala and Under the convenorship of Mrs. Gurinder Kaur, a Grand Diwali Mela event 'Vocal for Local' was organized in the College Campus to symbolize the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

The Celebration started with the ‘Hawan Yajana’ for seeking blessing of the Almighty to reverberate the entire atmosphere with heavenly and positive vibes. The festivities started with the inauguration of a stunning Exhibition organized by ‘Fashion Designing Department’, having multicolored booths of various dress materials, handmade Jewellery items, decorative Diwali ‘Diyas’, hanging and many other festive and decorative items along with sumptuous food stalls having delicacies prepared by the Students of ‘Home Science Department’ of the College. 

On this Occasion a Plantation drive was also conducted in the College Campus to ensure 'Green and Safe Diwali'. To initiate our motto of ‘Green Diwali’, the students having their birthdays in October month, donated 20 saplings of seasonal and medicinal value plants to ensure the bio-diversity of the green Campus. At this juncture , various competitions were organized for the students on the theme ‘Green Diwali Celebrations’ Mrs. Harpreet Aneja , Dr. Poonam Rani and Mrs. Naiya Mahajan acted as judges in this competition . In the Rangoli Competition, Km. Arshdeep Kaur and Km. Manpreet Kaur (B. Com Sem. III) got 1st Position, Km. Priyanshu and Km. Yukti (B.Sc. FD Sem. III) and Km. Manisha and Km. Kriti (BA Sem. I) got 2nd and 3rd positions respectively, while Km. Harleen and Km. Muskanpreet Kaur (B. Com Sem. I), Km. Nikita and Km. Suhani (B. Com Sem. III) got consolation prizes. In Hostel Rangoli Competition Km. Manjot and Km. Harman bagged first prize while Km Sakshi, Km. Kiran, Km. Afsana and Km. Prabhjeet got consolation prizes. 

In Card Making Competition Km. Manpreet Kaur (B. Com Sem. V) got first position while Km. Afsana and Km. Mankirat (B.Sc. Sem. I) got Second Position Jointly. In Diya making competition Km. Sheetal (BA Sem. V), Km. Rasanjeet and Km. Manpreet (B. Com Sem. V) got 1st, 2nd, 3rd positions respectively. 

On this auspicious occasion of Diwali, Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla congratulated all and emphasized on the importance of lighting a candle of knowledge and virtue while staying away from the vices of ignorance and illiteracy.
